Irene Louise (Weiss) Brinkmeyer, of Katy, Texas passed from this world into her heavenly home on May 2, 2012. Born in the Salem community of Washington County, Texas on June 12, 1926, to Edwin L. Weiss, Sr. and Linda (Wiesepape) Weiss, she was baptized and later confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church.
She was married to Alfred Albert Brinkmeyer at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in the Sandy Hill community of Washington County, Texas, on August 15, 1944, by Pastor W.C. Poehlmann.
Irene was a dedicated wife and loving mother of nine children. She as a nurturing Memaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and devoted her life to her family. In her leisure time, she loved tending to flowers and spending time in her yard.
She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, and formerly a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Houston for over 40 years.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Linda Weiss, her in-laws Fritz and Mary Brinkmeyer, daughter Ora Nell (Cookie) Kelm and her husband, Freddie, grandson Jeffrey Triolo, sister Louise Stroech and her husband, Hermann, brother Gilbert Weiss and wife Allyne, sisters-in-law Martha Brinkmeyer and Doris Brinkmeyer and nieces Barbara DeWees and Joyce McAnally.
Irene is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Alfred A. Brinkmeyer, children Lucille and Tom Campbell, Wayne and Linda Brinkmeyer, Glenn and Diane Brinkmeyer, Linda Sue and Myron Triolo, Betty and Kent Underwood, Gene and Kay Brinkmeyer, John and Kathy Brinkmeyer all of Houston, Charles and Jacelle Brinkmeyer of Bucoda, Washington, 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, brothers Edwin Weiss, Jr. and wife Edna, Jimmie Weiss, brothers-in-law Willie Brinkmeyer and wife Margaret, Roger Brinkmeyer, all of Brenham, Reverend Arthur Brinkmeyer and wife Carol of Nebraska, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends and care-givers Nekita Battle, Sherika Chaney, and Nurse Barbara Solasky.
Her grandsons will honor her in serving as pallbearers, Steven and Ryan Kelm, Scott, Erin, Chad, Timothy, Mark, Jacob, Joshua and Kyle Brinkmeyer, Thomas Triolo and Daniel Kopesky. Her granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers, Rhonda Bentke, Sharon Flisowski, Lisa Scalf, Cathy MacGregor, Rebecca Gaas, Jennifer Zimmerman, Amanda Flores, Kelli Tharp, Kerri and Kristina Underwood, and Kasey Brinkmeyer.
Viewing and visitation with the family will be held Friday, May 4, 2012, from 6-9 PM at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road, Houston, TX 70065.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, 10 AM, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 14423 West Road, Houston, TX 77040.
The Committal Service will be held at 2:30 PM at Prairie Lea Cemetery, 1004 Prairie Lea Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Silverado Hospice, Epiphany Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Dear Alfred and Family,
You all have our deepest sympathy. I have fond memories of visiting with Irene at family gatherings. She was a sweet, dear lady. May God give you all the peace and comfort that only He can give you at this time. She will always be with you in your hearts as you remember the wonderful person that your wife, mother & grandmother was.
