August 28, 1933 ~ March 23, 2024 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Tribute

On March 23, 2024, Augustina Armandina Cuellar passed from this life to her eternal life. Mandy, as she was fondly called, was a woman of great Catholic faith, a loving wife, and mother. She was born to Zaragoza and Adelaida (Escobar) Guerra on August 28, 1933 in Alice Texas. Armandina was married to Rigoberto Cuellar for nearly 60 years until his passing.

She is survived by five children and their spouses, Rosie (Michael) Gomez, Robert (Barbara) Cuellar, Anabel (Brent) Trudeau, Carlos (Norma) Cuellar, Graciela (Bill) Bradshaw. Her beloved Grandchildren: Justin, Madeleine, Andres, Evan, Estevan, Rachael, Emma, Gabriela, Alexander, and William, and their spouses. Great-grandchildren Milo and Bohdi, one surviving brother, several sisters in-law and many nephews and nieces who adored their Tia Mandy. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and several brothers and sisters.

Armandina lived her life giving much love and quiet service. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Brownsville, Texas for 50 years and a member of Catholic Daughters and the Altar and Rosary Society. From a young age she contributed to life at the family home in Escobares, Texas. She learned to make homemade soap, tend to livestock, learned to cook and helped her aunt at her little storefront. She was tireless in raising her children and helping her husband as bookkeeper at their business. She cared for her in-laws and elderly parents with care and compassion. Mandy provided endless car rides and meals. She volunteered at schools and church and helped whenever her children moved and moved again. It can be said that her life epitomized the life of Jesus in that when there was a need for her help, she never denied anyone.

Mandy enjoyed many blessings in her life: spending time with children and grandchildren, traveling, getting together with friends and neighbors over coffee and empanadas. She loved playing dominoes, working on word search puzzles and going to casinos with her family. She was a wonderful cook and proudly kept a beautiful home in which all were welcome. The family would like to thank Carlos and Norma for welcoming Mom into their home for the last 4 years and providing great care and to Dora Romo her caregiver and companion for her love and patience.
