Erica Michelle Rodriguez

April 20, 1982 ~ April 5, 2024 (age 41) 41 Years Old

Tribute

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Erica Michelle Rodriguez, who departed from this world on April 5, 2024. Erica was born on April 20, 1982, to Louis V. Rodriguez and Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez, both of whom preceded her in death. Their love and guidance shaped Erica into the remarkable woman she became. After their passing, Erica found love, support, and guidance from her uncles Mike and Robert Valdez, and aunt Ana Valdez.

Erica was a vibrant soul, who loved long drives with the windows down and the music turned up. She would sing along to anything, with a loud off-key voice (although she would never admit she was off-key). The type of girl who was always up for a spur-of-the-moment trip to the beach for midnight fishing. While most 20-something-year-olds looked forward to going out in downtown Houston, Erica’s favorite dance floor was the one at The Hop. Erica’s adventurous spirit led her to many travels and destinations, always wanting to experience new things. Place her on a warm beach, with a frozen fruity drink in her hand, and you would find a happy girl. Whether capturing the beauty of nature through her lens or exploring new destinations, Erica found joy in every moment and shared that joy generously with those around her.

She was a beloved sister to Jennifer M. Powell and spouse, Jose Jasso, and brother Louis V. Rodriguez. Erica cherished her role as an aunt, doting on her nieces and nephews with affection and laughter. On her brother's side, she leaves behind Louis, Leylene, Lennox, and Evan Rodriguez, and on her sister's side, Nathan, Collin, and Jessica Powell. Erica's love for her family was boundless, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering care and compassion shown by her beloved brother-in-law, Sean Powell, during Erica's time in hospice. His selflessness and devotion provided immeasurable comfort during her final days, and his presence will forever be cherished in our hearts.

In addition to her family, Erica leaves behind her partner in crime, Robin McGhee, with whom she shared countless adventures and mischievous escapades. While their antics are too numerous to list here, each one holds a special place in their hearts, creating a tapestry of adventures that defined their friendship. The memories shared between two best friends form an unbreakable bond woven with laughter, tears, and countless cherished moments. Their friendship was a testament to the power of friendship and companionship, bringing laughter and joy into each other's lives.

Though Erica's time with us was too brief, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain etched in our hearts forever. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.

A memorial service to honor and remember Erica Michelle Rodriguez will be held on April 13, 2024 at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. Flowers can be sent to 9926 Jones Rd, Houston, TX 77065.

While we grieve the loss of Erica, we take solace in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with her beloved parents, and surrounded by the beauty she loved. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us, and may she rest in eternal peace.
