John Mark Bangle
March 9, 1959 – January 8, 2020
John Bangle, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 60 at his home in Houston. John was born in Houston, Texas to Raymond and Marilyn Bangle on March 9, 1959.
John graduated from S.P. Waltrip High School in Houston, and worked for most of his adult life as a bookseller. He possessed an amazing knowledge of books, music and art and was himself a gifted writer, poet and artist. John had a noble, enormous heart and capacity for kindness and a deep empathy for his fellow man. He touched so many lives. John loved taking off on a road trip, and he especially enjoyed traveling throughout the American West, writing about and taking beautiful photographs of the natural beauty he found there. He was very spiritual, intelligent and philosophical, but also irreverently funny. He had an uncanny knack for knowing just the right thing to say or do when you were feeling down.
Beyond all else, John loved his family and treasured our close bonds. He is survived by his father and stepmother Raymond and Kate Bangle; sister Laurie Leos and her husband George; sister Bonnie White; brother Brad Bangle and his wife Brigid; nieces Brianna White, Lindsay Konlande and her husband Alex, Stephanie Crowley and her husband Vince, and Mollie Bangle; nephews George Leos, David Leos and Sam Bangle, as well as many grand nieces and grand nephews.
John was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn Edes Bangle Kapala.
We grieve the loss of John’s physical presence from our lives, but he lives on in our hearts forever.
