Tribute

In loving memory of Tayler Nygren

We all have a friend who is the life of the party, the person who would give you the shirt off of their back, the person who remembers important dates like birthdays and anniversaries and significant events in your life and reaches out to make sure you feel loved and seen on those dates.

Tayler Nygren was that friend, son, brother, uncle, and father.  On Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, at the age of 37, Jonathan Tayler Nygren bid farewell to this world in search of the peace he so earnestly sought.

Born on January 7th, 1987 in Houston, Texas, Tayler was the cherished fourth child of Dan and Shelagh Nygren. Growing up in Cypress, he graduated from Cypress-Creek High School in 2005. One of his proudest achievements was co-founding the school's first bowling team alongside his brother, Westen.  After high school, he worked in sales and quality assurance but loved coming up with new business ideas.

In adulthood, Tayler found solace in simple pleasures like hitting the gym, reading, collecting gemstones, researching family history, hanging out with his friends and family, singing with abandon, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.  He loved having fun with others.

Tayler's kindness knew no bounds. Whether it was gifting tiny shoes to his newborn nephew, attending his niece's dance recital, or offering words of encouragement to his friends and loved ones, Tayler's thoughtfulness touched countless lives. Even in his final days, he continued his legacy of generosity by making a donation to the Ronald McDonald House, embodying his unwavering commitment to touching the lives of others.

Tayler's proudest role was that of a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Rylee Rae. He loved teaching Rylee new skills or how to say new things, and he would share her growth with anyone who might listen, believing wholeheartedly in her limitless potential. She was the greatest love of his life.

Tayler leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his devoted parents, Dan and Shelagh Nygren; his siblings, Danielle (Colin) Brofman, Branden (Lily) Nygren, and Westen Nygren; his beloved daughter, Rylee Rae; his cherished nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and a multitude of dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his uncles: Jim Lawrence, John Lawrence, and Curtis Nygren, and grandparents: Peter and Ethel Lawrence, and Roxie and Richard Nygren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9th from 5-8pm at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road, Houston, TX 77065.

A celebration of Tayler's life will take place at 2pm on Friday, May 10th at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road, Houston, TX 77065.

Tayler, though you may be physically absent, your loving spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know you. May you have found the peace and comfort you shared so freely with others. Rest in eternal serenity.
