Jaime David Gomez

Jaime D. Gomez (57), a fisherman, environmentalist, artist and herb enthusiast passed away on September 1, 2022. He was born on January 29 th, 1965 to Celia and Sergio Gomez in El Paso, Texas. His early years were spent surrounded by a large and gregarious extended family. A graduate of Riverside High School and Southwest Texas State University, Jaime spent most of his life in Central Texas. He played a significant role in building the LBJ Student Center at Southwest Texas State and remained a faithful Bobcat. He worked for many years in conservation at Austin Energy prior to relocating to The Woodlands, TX to help care for his mother. He is survived by Leela Gomez (daughter), Celia Gomez (mother), Frances Hargrove (ex-wife), Sergio Gomez, Sonia Mendoza, Leticia McCabe (siblings), Anthony Mendoza, Gabriel Mendoza, Arielle Rosales and Seth McCabe (Niece and Nephews), along with Stripes, the Fat Cat and numerous friends and family members here in the US and Mexico. Jaime was a funny, kind and gentle soul who will be missed by many. A small, private Memorial Service will be held in The Woodlands.

A Celebration of Life Service event will be held in San Marcos, TX on Sunday September 25 th at the LBJ Student Center, Texas State University Campus from 3:00-5:00 pm. There will also be an opportunity to write down your best Jaime story for a memory box for Leela. In lieu of flowers, please volunteer, or donate to your local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, or plant a tree.
